FAQs

Got Questions?

General

What is Virtual Reality?

Virtual reality is where you are teleported into another reality where the real world rules are suspended. Basically, when you put on your headset, you will enter a whole new world to do whatever can imagine.

Just be careful when you come out… while you can walk through a table in VR, you won’t have the same easy (and painless) experience in real life.

Who can play?

We recommend that only players above the age of 10 due to the weight of the backpack PCs and headset size.

We do not recommend that players who are pregnant, suffer a heart condition or have epilepsy participate as it may exacerbate any medical conditions.

We will not accept players who show symptoms of cold and flu.

Intoxicated players will be asked to leave the premises for the safety and comfort of other players and staff, a refund will not be provided.

How many people can play?

For the ARVI Escape Room Experiences:

The total number of people who can play is 2 to 5 in the same experience.

For the Assassin’s Creed Escape Room Experiences:

The total number of people who can play is 2 or 4 in the same experience for Escape The Lost Pyramid, Beyond Medusa’s Gate and Save Notre-Dame on Fire. This is due to puzzles being designed as pairs. The Dagger of Time can be run as a group of 2, 3 or 4.

For the vrCAVE Escape Rooms:

Up to 5 players can be accommodated in this Escape Room, however we prefer to run with max of 4 players due to crowding issues around certain puzzles.

If you wish to have larger groups, please be aware that players may need to wait up to an hour until the previous group has finished.

What types of escape rooms are there?

First off, whatever you’ve been told playing in a real physical Escape Room, forget all of it. We get you’ve been told not to break stuff, touch stuff or move things with more than a finger’s worth of strength. In our games, sometimes breaking that one thing (not our equipment that runs the game) might be the key to success, so have fun and bring out your inner child.

It depends what your group enjoys more. The Assassin’s Creed Escape Room Experiences tailor towards players who enjoy exploration and want to feel as if they are part of a game experience. The experience is designed so that players do not see any loading screens, rather a seamlessly built world from the moment you step in. Due to the vastness, this game is played in individual booths with some teleportation involved, voice communication is built in for communication between players. There is no impending countdown in this one.

For those who want a more traditional Escape Room and for the serious players, the vrCAVE selection might be the more appropriate choice. These are what you would probably have played in an actual physical room, only the props and puzzles are virtual and not physically there (so don’t lean on that table). These rooms have levels and players are both physically + virtually in the same playing space with an impending countdown.

The ARVI selection provide a combination of adventure and puzzles.

How long are the rooms?

For the ARVI and Assassin’s Creed Escape Room Experiences:

The general run time is 45 – 65 minutes. The game operator will provide overtime depending on session time and booking availability.

For the vrCAVE Escape Rooms:

The general run time is 35 – 45 minutes. The game will stop once the timer runs out unless you make it out in time.

What's the difficulty?

The approximate difficulty level and average run time for groups can be found on our VR leaderboard page.

How big is the space?

A playing area is the area in which you move about freely and interact/experience the alternate reality world. This is generally a minimum 2m x 2m area for each person.

For some escape rooms, mainly our free-roam VR rooms, you might be in a larger space, typically 5m x 6m and interacting with each other physically and virtually in the same area.

Can you wear glasses?

Yes, absolutely, the headsets are designed so there is enough space if you need to wear glasses.

Can people spectate?

You may spectate however we no longer have spectator screens. This means you are unable to see what the players are seeing in virtual reality, however rest assured you can definitely still hear players.

SAFETY

Can staff supervise children?

Staff are unable to supervise children under the age of 18. Parents or guardians must be present and supervising for safety reasons, we may allow players to participate provided they have prior permission from a parent/guardian.

What safety features are there?

There are multiple safety mechanisms built in. Each player will have a defined boundary area which is highlighted in your headset through visual prompts.

During game play, your boundaries will be highlighted at all times on the floor as a reminder.

It is up to you to pay attention and follow instructions at all times to remain safe. Damage to equipment may incur additional costs.

Staff will also be observing and guiding players where necessary.

Can you get motion sick?

The games are generally designed to reduce or remove motion sickness. The maximum time we recommend in VR is 60 minutes each time before a break as you will feel unwell if you do not use a headset regularly.

You are free to move around your playable area while in game, to reduce motion sickness and if you wish, some games can be played sitting down.

If you do feel sick, let a staff member know and take a break. We want you to enjoy your experience with us.
